Solid, the rank. Dashed, the projection. The rule is logarithmic: each band is about as far from the last in ability as the one before it.
Practice moves the projection. Only the Diagnostic moves the rank. The protocol prescribed rest on the fourteenth day, and the line recovered.

Item Response Theory on a calibrated bank: each item has a difficulty, each Fellow an ability, and the figure is the ability that best explains the record. Δ is an institution-internal benchmark. It is not an IQ test, not a diagnosis, not a medical assessment.
Standing Δ is set there and nowhere else. Fellows sit it monthly, inside an assigned week; a missed window pins the rank at its last value. Nothing is deducted.
Admission
Sit the Preliminary. Read your figure, and the account of it. Then decide whether the standard is one you mean to meet.
Δ is an institution-internal score. It measures a Fellow’s performance on this institution’s assessments relative to other Fellows. It is not an IQ test, not a medical assessment, and not a diagnosis. It is a training benchmark, like a 1-rep max or a recital program.
